Will it drain the battery or overheat? +
Your Mac runs as it normally would with the lid open. Idle work sips power; heavy work draws what it always draws. Nothing is forced to stay busy.
Does it need admin access? +
No. Clamshell runs as a normal menu bar app. It does not install a kernel extension, driver, daemon, or privileged helper, and it does not ask for sudo.
Which Macs and macOS versions? +
Apple Silicon Mac laptops on macOS 14 or later. The Option-close gesture needs a lid angle sensor: MacBook Air M2 (2022) or later, or 14-inch / 16-inch MacBook Pro (2021) or later. M1 MacBook Air, 13-inch MacBook Pro, and Macs without that sensor use the menu-bar toggle.
What if I quit Clamshell or it crashes? +
Your Mac returns to normal lid-close behavior. Nothing is left in a stuck state.
Can I get a refund? +
Yes. If it is not for you, refund details and contact are available through
support.
